Well, 98% of a kitchen, which is pretty darned good, cos it means we can now unpack and get our dining and living room back to normal, and we can resume cooking as per normal too! Well, ALMOST :-) as we still have to resolve a small issue with the new cooker, or rather, the gas connection to it, as it does not seem to be working right. I have a suspicion the problem is with the gas cylinder head on the gas cylinder side, as there was a lot of dust in it, and there are still small particles, which I THINK are preventing the head from sealing firmly to the cylinder, so the gas is not going through! Will see tomorrow when my lovely kitchen contractor, Athelea, comes to check it out.
Anyway, I don't have time for a long post today, as I am leaving for the airport in a couple of hours (flying to Shanghai to spend time with dear friends Peng and Tony), so here are just a few pictures to show you what is in place as of today!
1) Here is my baking area :-). The big empty 'box' on the right is where my fridge is going to go. The granite work top is not in place yet - will be at least another 2 - 3 weeks as they could only take measurements once all the cabinets were in place. But it still looks great!
2) And here is my island :-). My Mum's fridge is on the other side of the island, back to the support pillar. The back door of the kitchen can just be seen beyond that. The entrance to the maids room is hidden by the fridge.
3) Here is the sink and cooker area. My Mum is starting to familiarise herself with the kitchen. We'll both have to figure out the best place to put whatever we use the most :-).
4) And here is the front part of the kitchen, nearest to the kitchen entrance. The little kopi-tiam table is back in its place and my Dad is the first person to sit back in his usual seat to have a healthy snack of an orange :-).
Still have some lighting stuff to do, check the cooker, get some new switches, connect up some Eubig power strips, get the granite counter and the inset induction cooker.... and that's it for the kitchen. Other than that - have to finish the maids room, my parents room, their bathroom, and the outside area. Still a lot... but at least the end is in sight.
That's it for now folks. Till next time, have a great day, every day!
MERRY CHRISTMAS
